It is amazing. If you watch virtually any TV show, you will see that each person has a cell phone.
Not only does the person have a cell phone, but he can get pictures/intergalactic coordinates to the universe at any time and anywhere.
It does not matter if you are in the lowest level of a subterranean garage, communication is perfect. Physics be damned, we now live in TRON...according to Hollywood TV.

Russia Launched "Sputnik"
October 4, 1957 -- 57 years ago
Today was an awakening for the west. Who would believe that the other Superpower, then the USSR, had launched a satellite in Earth orbit?
There it was gliding across the sky. A new little star in the sky. Sputnik spoke a beep, beep on the 10-meter band.
As a radio DX'er, I had completed my Heathkit Shortwave Radio. It tuned all the SW bands; 10 meters (around 28-29+ megacycles) was a 'hot' band for listening.
Not all of my relatives enjoyed my excitement. Imaging a satellite signal. Wow. Great for a 15-year-old guy.
My aunt at 45 gave me the "Yeah, sure" when I tuned in Sputnik.
Its existence made US politicians nervous.
NASA was an offshoot of this singular change in international perspective.

Wait…there is one thing I can’t figure out how to do. I’m trying to INSERT a picture in this email, but I can only ATTACH one. Wonder why that is..
Definitions. An email is, in a sense, a text document. WORD creates a "document" with benefits.
You can 'attach' a photo, PDF, MP3, video to an email. You can also 'insert' a link to another reference in an email.
The same is true for a WORD document.
WORD creates a formatted document. It, WORD, has more capabilities. Not only can you 'attach' the same file types to the WORD document, you can 'insert, re-size and locate' a photo or video within the WORD document.
I feel like a back-seat driver. I go back to WordStar, SideKick, Word, and others. They are the grandparents of the current WORD in iCloud.
And the Google Drive word processor. ( google.com/drive ) The advantage that I see comes from the ability to write, copy, print, edit and reference a document in the cloud.
Here is the difference. WORD creates your document on your computer. You have to send the document to another person OR make changes from YOUR computer. (the doc can be saved in the 'cloud'.)
Once you create or save a document (or spreadsheet, data file) in the 'google.com/drive' you can write, copy, print, edit AND control WHO can see the document...and the other attributes: edit, write, etc.

Eclipse of the Moon
This is the night of April 14, 2014. The moon went into eclipse just before midnight at the start of tax day.
The moon became a slightly red color. My pictures somewhat reflect the color. It's called a red moon.
Bordeaux is a red wine, love it. China has been politically described as Red. Curiously, the movie playing on Netflix is Red Obsession.
It's about the French expansion of Bordeaux wine into the expanding middle and upper class into China.

Protect yourself from Malware and Viruses
You just bought a new computer. You want to avoid the bad guys. You want to be invisible to the outside Internet world...except when you want something.
In a home environment, most people connect to the Internet via either cable or DSL. Satellite services, DISH and DIRECTV, offer Internet in combination with regional phone service as DSL.
Remote areas as in Wyoming, Montana and other beautiful areas of the USA actually can access the Internet via satellite. It's slower and quite expensive. Some cities, like Minneapolis, MN, offer Wi-Fi access for a price. The price is high, the results are less than dial-up.
Most tablet computers have Wi-Fi built-in. For a monthly fee, if your tablet is capable, you can get to the Internet cell phone. But that's no surprise.
Each of the providers charges by data transfer. I carry a mobile hotspot from Net Zero. There's CLEAR from Sprint and virtually every other cellphone provider.
Generally, you do not have to be a customer of ATT, Verizon, et al to get their device and service. Well...maybe it is better. Ask.
Protect yourself using two simple ways: (Routers allow more than one device to access the Internet on your connection.)
CABLE TO INTERNET: If you don't have a ROUTER, get one and connect it to your MODEM. Then connect your computer. Wireless (Wi-Fi) needs another Encryption level. Wired, you are golden!
TELEPHONE TO INTERNET: This is called DSL (Digital Service Line). The DSL 'modem' that you buy from a retailer or the modem that you rent from your phone company does two things. It is a "MODEM" to convert your audio to digital AND it is a ROUTER that can support more than one device.
MOBILE: Personally, I have a NetZero hotspot. It's good for my iPod. I pay ATT for access to Internet on my iPad.

the first time you post...
a good speaker conveys a message in about 125 words per minute. that's how that person speaks. most folks can understand at that rate of speech.
this blog self-designs to limit to 250 words. that is make a point in 2 minutes...or don't get word crazy. make the point, end.
say what you will in about 250 words. back in the day, 250 words was an average typed page.
