I did it today. It was a stop that is out of character for me but the business seems quite
busy around noon.
Now, on my bike, I have the chance to stop at places where parking is not a problem.
Not only that, I was reintroduced to another part of society.
At the counter, I ordered a cold chocolate drink, got it quickly and sat down to sip it
through a straw.
At one part of the restaurant, there were four women and two men at several tables
pushed together. More customers came in, put their orders on the electronic kiosk by
the door.
The counter space was occluded by hungry patrons with cash and credit in hand. One
mother passed by me with her three children, two in a buggy and a walking five-year-old.
Another young mother headed for the bathroom with her daughter.
I chuckled as I thought about the ‘shake’ I was sipping. This lunch crowd might nod in
recognition. The moms were chronologically outnumbered by the majority who grew up
with the slogan: “Forty-five cents is all it costs you at McDonald's”. [Shake, burger
& fries]
